Well guys, I finally finished the first H&R with our new .850 stainless steel barrel in 357 Maximum...

This gun has a 16 1/2" barrel and minus the bi-pod, this little MAX weighs in at a whopping 5 lbs. 6 oz. and needless to say, my wife is more than pleased with her new little MAX....

After taking pictures of the gun and getting ready to leave the range, I spotted two very nice bucks at just over 600 yds. and managed to get a couple of pictures of them after they left their watering hole...

The last picture of the day - Polly Baby - my 2 year old female Cocker Sapaniel....

I just finished it and have not yet pulled the trigger on it. I do plan on shooting it within the next couple of days and will post the results. Considering the "sight" that was chosen for it, initial sight-in and groups will be at 50 yds. and then retested at 100 yds....

With the heat wave and lack of moisture I bet that watering hole is going to be key for hunting season!  Can't wait till you get caught up on your work.....

Blackelk - all of the usual watering holes around here are nothing more than dust bowls! Our pond still has water in it but, we had a major "fish kill" on the 9th. of July and lost all of our big catfish, bass, perch and everything else. I'm keeping 5-gallon buckets of fresh water out for the deer and other animals because of the heat and drought....

Theranch - Thank You! If everything goes according to plan, I should have pictures of your gun over here tomorrow....

Vern - Thank You! These were two of the better bucks that I have seen in a while. Bow Season? Not in this heat! The way things are dying because of the heat, I don't know if there will be any deer hunting around here this year . What game there is, is on the sick side and not too healthy. The only thing that seems to be prospering around here is the buzzards and the coyotes...

When I was in one of our local feed stores the other day, I listened to a fellow talk about having over 100 chickens, 50 quail, 50 rabbits, 100 pheasants and ducks and geese die off in just a couple of weeks time because of the heat! Most days around here average around 115-120 degrees with little to no wind. I walked in the woods 3-days ago to fill a water bucket for the game and it was so hot, it seemed like death was everywhere. I had to get out in the 117 degree sun to catch my breath just from being under that canopy of sweltering steam and heat....

Dave29 - I should have pictures of your gun and barrels early next week....
